Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 119:89-128. Verse 105, what situation am I dealing with right now, where the way forward isn’t clear and I need God’s word as a lamp to light my path?
Jeremiah 6:1-30. Verse 11, I am full of the fury of the Lord. Who is there in the Christian world today—if anyone—willing to sacrifice popularity and comfort in speaking hard truths? Is my church a place of courage?
Romans 8:26-30. Verse 28, who is someone embattled with troubles, for whom I can claim this powerful promise today?
Matthew 11:2-19. Hard times for John the Baptist and his cousin Jesus. If God sent two such troublemakers into my town, would I dare to side with them, or play it safe and steer clear of them?
