Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 123:1-4. This little psalm gave rise to the beloved hymn, “Fix your eyes upon Jesus.” How will the challenges of this day yield to gospel power if I make this my song for today?
Jeremiah 9:1-26. Verses 23 and 24, what are the mistaken standards of self-worth and success that I must not be deceived by? How can I come to know God better today—glorying in that and that alone?
Romans 9:14-26. Verse 21, how can I approach this day with as much meekness, humility, submissiveness and teachableness toward God as the clay has toward the potter? What sort of vessel is he making of me?
Matthew 12:1-8. What are the do’s and don’ts that Jesus, Lord of the Sabbath, wants me to follow in setting aside every seventh day to especially honor and glorify God?
