Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 107:1-43. Verse 9, how does a hunger in the soul differ from bodily hunger? How does God’s goodness feed my hungry soul today?
Deuteronomy 33:1—34:12. Verse 34:7, Moses’ longevity and vitality in God’s service. Which shall I heed today, the ill effects of getting older, or the sustaining promises of the living God?
Romans 6:1-11. Verses 5 and 6, what is my share in the crucifixion of Jesus, and my share in his resurrection? How do they make a decisive difference for me here and now?
Matthew 10:1-15. As a disciple of Jesus, what have I freely received from him? To whom, when and how, does he want me to freely give it?
