Bible Monday 3/30: Light

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 40:1-17. Verses 6-8 can be read as the voice of Jesus obediently walking toward the cross. When has God called on me to do something that seemed just too hard, but with his help I did it?

Jonah 3:1 - 4:11. Jonah preaches and Nineveh is spared, but he is still unhappy with God. How do self-pity and self-righteousness sometimes trip me up? Why does this displease God?

John 12:37-50. Verses 42 and 43, some Jews become secret believers in Jesus. Was there ever a time when I showed moral cowardice, loving the praise of men more than the praise of God?

Matthew 21:12-32. Verses 23-27, moral cowardice again. If Jesus returns today, what do I want him to find me doing?
