Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 69:1-36. Verse 5, how does foolish thought or action get in the way of my serving God as I should? Prayer point for today?
Lamentations 2:1-22. Israel, Jerusalem, Zion, the city God loved most, stands desolate without Him. What is the risk when I just glide along through life, taking the Lord’s favor for granted? Will there be a reckoning?
Luke 20:9-19. Related, don’t I often act entitled and unaccountable before God, and doesn’t this breed the sinful rebellion that would even kill God’s own Son? Am I not therefore complicit in Calvary?
Matthew 26:1-16. Related again, isn’t it true there is something in me—and all of us—a bit like Judas and something a bit like the adoring woman who anointed Jesus? Today how can I be more like her and less like him?
