Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 23:1-6. Verse 2, translating the symbolism of green pastures and still waters into the conditions of everyday life, what am I trusting God to do for me? How shall I put myself in position to receive what he has to give me?
Jeremiah 25:1-38. Verse 34, “Howl, ye shepherds.” What vigilance, obedience, and stewardship is God holding me accountable for, during this chapter of my life? How am I doing?
Romans 15:22-33. Verse 30, strive together in prayer. Who is especially valuable to me as a prayer partner? Who else could we draw into our circle? Do I need to give this more priority?
Matthew 14:22-36. If I listen, can I perhaps hear Jesus inviting me to get out of the boat—my comfort zone—and walk over the waves toward him, right now, today?
