Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 17:1-15. Verse 1, unfeigned prayer. When have my actions sent an opposite message from what I was saying to God? What was the outcome? Present application?
Ezekiel 28:1-26. How do humans, in all their pride and pomp, assign godlike status to themselves? How does this even infect me, though I know better?
I Corinthians 9:15-27. Verse 16, compelled to preach the gospel. Who needs to hear the good news of Jesus from me today?
John 8:21-36. Verse 32, what specific truth is it that Jesus says will make me free? And what exactly does that freedom look like? What am I to do with it, what is it for?
