Bible Wednesday 6/3: King of Truth

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 81:1-16. Verses 10-13, what specific choice do I face today, between walking in my own way or walking in God’s way?

I Samuel 8:1-22. Related, the people insist they want to be ruled by a king, not by God as before. Is Samuel’s warning of tyrannical government accurate down through history? What is my church doing about it?

Acts 5:12-21. Imprisoned for preaching Christ, the apostles are freed by an angel and resume preaching. What risks am I taking for Jesus at this stage in my life? What has discipleship cost me?

John 18:33-40. Jesus tells Pilate he is a different kind of king with a different kind of kingdom, devoted to truth. As one of his subjects, how would I answer Pilate’s question, “What is truth?”
