Bible Monday 6/22: This Day

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 118:1-29. Verse 24, if I really believe that God has made this a day of rejoicing and gladness, how will others see me conducting myself today?

I Samuel 27:1-12. The wily David exiles himself in Gath, misleading their king and marauding in the countryside. When have I bent or broken the rules, claiming I had no choice? How did it work out?

Acts 10:1-8. Cornelius, a Roman officer devout in the Jewish faith, is directed by God to seek out Peter. Verse 4, what is my experience with angels, if any? Are my prayers and alms such as to get Jesus’ attention?

Mark 4:1-9. How can I guard my heart from birds and predators, stones and drought, or competing distractions, so that Jesus’ seed of godliness can bring forth a hundredfold crop there?
