Bible Wednesday 6/24: Birth of the Baptist

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 127:1-5. Verse 1, in my life at present, what big concern have I taken too much upon myself and neglected to keep God at the center? Action point for today?

I Samuel 29:1-11. As war looms between the Philistines and Israel, David becomes a man without a country. When have I felt my life-prospects were few or none, with no way forward? How did God show up?

Acts 10:24-33. The apostle and the soldier, Jew and Roman, relate how God has brought them together. When has God connected me to someone by divine appointment? What’s required of me now as a result?

Luke 1:57-80. Verses 58, 72, 78, John the Baptist comes as a messenger and agent of God’s mercy. How have I experienced that mercy, leading me to Jesus? What’s required of me now as a result?
