Bible Monday 7/13: Magnify

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 34:1-22. Verse 3, here is the mission of the church at its most basic: coming together to magnify the Lord. How can my church make that more central to everything we do?

II Samuel 19:1-41. David, restored to the kingship, shows clemency to rebel leaders. What unfinished business of forgiveness have I been putting off? First step today?

Acts 16:1-10. In a night vision, Paul is asked to bring the gospel from Asia Minor (Troas) to Europe (Macedonia). By what attitudes and actions can I qualify myself to know more clearly God’s marching orders for me?

Mark 8:27-33. Peter rightly acclaims Jesus as the Messiah, but then wrongly insists that as such he need not die and rise again. Don’t I often try to make the faith all sweet and never bitter? With what consequence?
