Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 46:1-11. Thinking of my present situation, what are the fearsome upheavals that God protects me from? How can I take refuge in the city of God and be refreshed in his river?
Jeremiah 34:1-22. The Israelites defy God’s command about freeing their bondservants. When did I willfully disobey God? What did I learn? Present application?
I Timothy 5:17-25. Verse 22, keep yourself pure. Where am I particularly vulnerable? Why does it matter to God?
Matthew 16:21-28. Verse 24, what does self-denial specifically look like at this point in my life? What is the cross Jesus wants me to bear today?
