Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 116:1-19. Verse 8, here are three specific ways I can experience God’s deliverance today. What are three more that I can think of? How can I thank him and pay it forward?
Lamentations 3:1-66. Verses 22-26, how shall I expect to receive God’s compassions anew this morning—faithful, tangible, lavish, perfectly suited to my needs?
Hebrews 5:1-14. Verses 5-9, how did Jesus’ tears and sufferings, leading to the cross, teach him obedience and help fulfill his saving mission for me and mine?
Matthew 26:17-56. Verse 39, what situation am I facing right now where I need to pray as Jesus did—”Not my will but thine”—?
John 13:1-38. When have I been blessed, symbolically at least, by the humble unselfed love that washed my feet? Who needs me to minister to them in that way right now?
