Bible Tuesday 7/28: Hitherto

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 71:1-24. Verses 17 and 18, what are some of the specific lessons we need God to teach us in our younger years? And in our older years? How teachable am I?

I Kings 10:1-29. Verse 9, the Queen of Sheba, come from afar to see Solomon’s grandeur, praises God for it. In the celebration of America 250, where is God honored and where is he forgotten? My church’s response?

Acta 21:26-36. Roman soldiers rescue Paul from a murderous Jewish mob. Why does the worldly mind, dominant on the human scene, feel so threatened by Jesus? In all honesty, which side am I on?

Mark 11:27-33. Related, how is my moral courage, my willingness to oppose prevalent opinion, put the test in everyday post-Christian life? What more does Jesus want me to do?
