Bible Wednesday 7/29: Warning

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 74:1-23. Is there a difficult situation in my life that has me asking God over and over again, “Why?” Where can I turn for examples of God’s faithfulness in just such crises—and worse?

I Kings 11:1-43. Solomon’s disobedience to God breaks—at the very outset—the royal line that was to have begun with David. When has success set a trap for me? Application to present needs?

Acts 21:37-22:11. Facing the enraged mob, Paul defends himself by testifying of Jesus. Who needs to hear my conversion story one day soon? What are the do’s and don’ts that experience has taught me?

Mark 12:1-12. Jesus indicts the Jewish leaders for having robbed God and brutalized his messengers. When have I deluded myself that the Father’s gracious bounty was somehow all mine? Warning for today?
