Bible Wednesday 9/2: Stretch

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 5:1-12. The godly individual, at prayer, outlines how he hopes God will set people, situations, and issues aright, putting the world on its feet again. Are my prayers big enough for my task as Jesus’ disciple?

II Kings 24:1 -20. Judah and Jerusalem continue paying for Manasseh’s bad kingship years ago, their royalty becoming his puppets, their treasures his plaything. Is America now in decline? What can my church do about it?

II Corinthians 8:16-24. Why is the honest handling of money for religious and charitable endeavors so important? Why has Satan found it a point of easy vulnerability in churches?

Luke 6:1-11. Jesus asks the Jewish leaders what they think the law is for, if not to do good and save life—enraging them. What do I think the law is for?
