Bible Monday 9/7: Self-Knowledge

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 19:1-14. All created things, including the natural world and the human soul, must obey God’s commands. Shall I align myself with this divine order in morning prayers today?

Job 5:1-27. Eliphaz ends his sermon: Happy is the man whom God corrects. Yet some would say this is too pat. What flaw do I find in these generalizations?

II Corinthians 12:1-10. Paul refers obliquely (is it of himself he speaks, or someone else?) to a vision of the seventh heaven and of a thorn in the flesh. Have I had such a thorn? What has it taught me?

Luke 6:46-49. Are my worldview and way of life built on rock or sand? How can I be sure?
