Bible Tuesday 9/8: Supreme Authority

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 22:1-31. Jesus wins, death is defeated. That’s the message here in brief. May I always remember this week to pray the whole story—not only Jesus’ agony on the cross but also his victory at the empty tomb.

Job 6:1-30. Job voices his disgust with the comforters’ shallow and unhelpful words. When did I feel inadequate to console a suffering friend? Was there another time when I did better?

Luke 7:1-10. Judging by the way I live, not just the way I talk, who holds ultimate authority over me—worldly minds or Jesus Christ?
