Backbone Radio

Radio, Mar. 26: Coffman, Peterson, Barone

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, DenverTo listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Howdy from Portland, Maine, where I'm spreading the tax-limitation message that you can either have robust economic growth or unrestrained government growth -- but not both. Maine citizens are on the ballot with their own Taxpayer's Bill of Rights (rainy day fund in, ratchet out), and they asked me to bring the truth about how good TABOR has been for Colorado. I'll do the same next week in Topeka, Kansas.

In between those trips, I'll "see" you on the radio Sunday evening. "Backbone Radio with John Andrews" this weekend proudly welcomes USMC Major, and State Treasurer-on-leave, Mike Coffman home from his war service in Iraq -- Fallujah no less. Our conversation in studio is one I'm excited about. Please join us -- listen in and call in.

Radio, Mar. 19 * Lost Constitution?

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, DenverTo listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Self-deception is not a pretty thing. The White House talking big on border security, for example, or Cherry Creek Schools pretending they stood up to Jay Bennish. And historically, Imperial Rome cloaked itself in republican forms long after abandoning the reality.

So likewise the American Republic, now well into its third century, needs a frequent look in the mirror to check our constitutional fidelity. It's under constant threat. "Backbone Radio with John Andrews" will hold up the mirror with several of our guests this Sunday.

Radio, Mar. 12: Hollywood vs. America

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, DenverTo listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The recent Academy Awards, like much of Hollywood's output, peddling such falsehoods as the greater threat of the CIA and oil companies in contrast with Islamofascism ("Syriana") or the greater threat of anti-communism in contrast with Stalin and Mao ("Good Night and Good Luck"), position the movie industry as an adversary to the America most of us live in and love.

Radio, Mar. 5: Trustees of power

Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, DenverTo listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Entering the State Capitol each day while serving there, I remembered we as legislators weren't the owners of power but merely its trustees." So I wrote in a recent Denver Post column. It's easy to forget that, let me tell you. Thus recent headlines are full of lapses by the trustees of power in public office and public classrooms. We'll talk about them this Sunday on "Backbone Radio with John Andrews," 5-8pm on 710 KNUS in Denver or 710knus.com wherever you are.

** Questions about Rep. Joe Stengel's off-session pay, Sen. Deanna Hanna's extortion of a donor, and Rep. Angie Paccione's tribute payola have rocked the legislature. We'll talk it over with Senate Minority Leader Andy McElhany and (newly chosen) House Assistant Minority Leader Ted Harvey.

** Leftist indoctrination disguised as teaching, Ward Churchill's college specialty, now has its high-school poster guy in Jay Bennish, the America-hater at Overland HS in Aurora. My guests to discuss this will be David Horowitz, the author of a new book on dangerous professors, and Troy Eid, the CU regent candidate who vows "No More Ward Churchills."

** Speaking of hot books, Kate O'Beirne of National Review has a scorcher in Women Who Make the World Worse. I'll have Kate on to tell about this hilarious expose' of radical feminism.

** Plus a talk with State Board of Education candidate Lee Kunz and petition activist Lynn Cottrell about their popular ballot issue requiring at least 65 cents of the education dollar to reach classrooms.

There's nothing else quite like Backbone Radio, the most principled, most patriotic, most faith-based, most Colorado-proud spot on the dial. I invite you to join us for another lively Sunday evening of fact, opinion, and insight.

Yours for self-government, JOHN ANDREWS

Radio, Feb. 26: Dems in denial

BULLETIN FROM JOHN ANDREWS Join us on radio every Sunday, 5-8pm on 710 KNUS, Denver To listen online from anywhere, click 710knus.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Americans must be spared the sight of those Muslim cartoons, but saturated in coverage of Cheney's shooting accident. Windmills are vital to our energy future, but Alaska drilling isn't. Illegal immigration is not a priority, but domestic partnerships are.

Such is the illogic of the liberal worldview, the spectacle of Democrats in denial. We'll take a deep breath and go exploring in that strange land of the left, this Sunday on "Backbone Radio with John Andrews." You're invited along for the ride.

** State Rep. Kevin Lundberg was there on Tuesday when Dems killed bill after bill to deal with the flood of illegal aliens into Colorado. We'll get his report.

** Rocky Mountain News columnist Mike Littwin has poked his sharp pen into most of these issues lately, and I'm eager for another of our periodic faceoffs. He'll be in.

** In addition, Perry Pendley of Mountain States Legal Foundation will discuss his new book, "Warriors for the West," and Gerald Chipeur of the Canada's Conservative Party will preview the new government up north.

I'll have all this for you from 5-8pm this Sunday, Feb. 26, on 710 KNUS in Denver and 710knus.com around the world. Call in with your two-cents at 303-696-1971. Or comment by email, during the show or right now, at backboneradio@aol.com.
