Bible Thursday 12/1: Alert or Asleep?

Psalm 18:1-50. What makes God breathe fire (verses 8, 12, 13)? How would I perceive that humanly if he did so? What encouragement does this hold for me? What warning?

Isaiah 36:1-22. When the enemy seeks to intimidate, unnerve, and cow me as the Assyrian general does here to the king's men, what mental or spiritual form does that take? What's my defense?

Revelation 8:1-13. In my family, my circle of friends, my church, how active are the "prayers of the saints," mentioned here in verses 3 and 4, and often in this book?

Luke 22:39-46. What's on my heart today that I can trust to God with the Lord's petition, "Not my will, but thine, be done"? Toward what temptation must I be alert, not asleep?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Click and see what you think.  Where is your self-examination leading today?
