Bible Friday 12/23: Enter John the Baptist

Psalm 93:1-13. What is one sneaky little idol I can start getting rid of today (verse 5)? What is one aspect of the beauty of holiness that I can quietly express to others today (verse 9)?

Isaiah 58:1-14. Pondering verses 5-7, what attitudes and appetites shall I fast from, these next three days through Christmas? What extra kindness can I show someone, from the list given here?

Hebrews 1:1-14. Related to the above: At this season of so much stress and excess, what can I do -- selflessly, without show -- to love righteousness and hate iniquity as Jesus did (verse 9)?

Luke 1:67-80. What high or even holy aspirations did my father and mother have for me, God willing, at my birth? How much has been fulfilled? What remains undone? Is there still time?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Click and see what you think. Where is your self-examination leading today?
