Bible Sunday 1/1: So It Begins

Psalm 103:1-22. What markers would show in me if this new year were a time when my youth is renewed like the eagle's (verse 4, KJV)? How can I begin allowing God to do that?

Genesis 1:1-31. Concerning the dominion that is ours by being made in God's image (verse 26), where am I most and least expressing that right now? How shall I petition him, and thank him, accordingly?

Hebrews 3:1-11. If I as a Christian am Christ's own house, or we all are (verse 6) , which "rooms" are not as fully open to him as they should be? For 2017 how shall I work daily to correct that?

John 1:1-18. Same inquiry, put differently: How nearly do I define my identity, my whole story, from the new birth I gained in Jesus (verses 12-14) and not from my human birth and biography?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Click and see what you think. Where is your self-examination leading today?
