Bible Saturday 1/7: Into the Ark

Looking at this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. (click to subscribe), I examined myself with the following questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 103:1-22. Verses 2-6 list five kinds of benefits from God that we must not forget. What's one example of each kind in my experience that can I thank him for today? (For verse 3, check out this from Spurgeon.)

Genesis 7:1-24. Figuratively, what rising floodwaters now threaten the world as we know it? What ark of rescue can I and my family help build, then come aboard and invite in others?

Hebrews 11:1-7. Do I sometimes make faith more complicated than the simple definition in verse 6? And in so doing, distract myself from meekly meeting those two or three basic requirements?

Matthew 3:1-12. What connects the Old Testament flood to the New Testament baptism? What have baptism with water and baptism with fire meant in my life, and the lives of people I love?
