Bible Thursday 1/5: Divine Derision

Psalm 2:1-12. What scary threat of the enemy, preoccupying me right now, should I realize God is laughing at -- and by faith do the same (verse 4)?

Genesis 5:1-32. What must have been the spiritual substance of Enoch's walk with God that led to his being translated to heaven without having to die (verse 24)?

Hebrews 4:1-10. Is the condition of rest, discussed here, only a future promise to God's faithful or also a present possibility?  If the latter, am I now at rest? Or what do I lack?

John 1:43-51. How do I measure up on Jesus' commendation of Nathanael "in whom is no guile" (verse 47, KJV)? What are the markers? Any connection to the questions about Enoch and rest?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Click and see what you think. Where is your self-examination leading today?
