Bible Thursday 1/12: Light in the Dark

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 18:1-50. What does God mean in correlating gentleness and greatness (verse 35, KJV)? In what situations or relationships should I pray to be gentler right now?

Genesis 12:1-20. When have I displeased God by telling what I regarded as a necessary or protective lie, as Abram does here? How did it turn out?  What did I learn?

Hebrews 11;23-29. When have I opted for self-denial in loyalty to God or others (verses 25-26)? How did it turn out? What did I learn?

Matthew 4:12-17. What are five specific forms that spiritual darkness takes in my immediate surroundings and sphere of influence (verse 16)? For each, how can I help bring light?
