Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 37:1-40. What are the three greatest desires of my heart (verse 4)? Do I bring them to God with delight or with heaviness?
Proverbs 11:1-31. What five persons do I trust most for wise counsel, including some outside my family and some of the opposite sex (verse 14)? How could I make better use of them?
Romans 11:22-36. Have I ever felt, or do I feel now, let down by what seems a turning on God's part? Am I clear that his gifts and calling are irrevocable (verse 29, ESV)?
Matthew 14:13-21. In what area of my life, or what burden on my heart, do I long to have Jesus transform scarcity into abundance? Am I giving him what little I have, for starters?
