Bible Thursday 6/1: Battle Trumpet

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalm 105:1-45. Why feel threatened by today's political leaders when I serve a God who sovereignly reproves kings and binds princes (verses 14, 22, KJV)? Prayer point?

Exodus 39:1-43. As evangelical Christians, with no such priesthood or vestments as described here, in what spiritual qualities does my church want our ministers clothed?

I Corinthians 14:1-11. Further about my church, do we all, members and ministers, sound a certain or an uncertain trumpet of battle for Christ (verse 8)? Action point for me personally?

John 11:45-57. How does the expedient control mentality of religious authority (verse 50), that Jesus' life-giving work should become his death warrant, find expression in our own times?
