Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalm 106:1-48. What blessings and mercies of God to me have I tended to forget, even today (verses 7, 13, 21)? How shall I thank him for those now and all day?
Numbers 1:1-54. Who are ten people among my family, friends, and church that I could "number" right now, recognizing in each a particular attribute of God for me to emulate?
Acts 8:26-40. When has someone opened Scripture to me, or I to them, as Philip with the Ethiopian? How did it bring both of us closer to Jesus? Opportunities for more of that?
Mark 6:53-56. In calling Jesus the Great Physician, do I own the reality behind the poetry? What do doctors do that he can do better? Who needs a house call from him today?
