Bible Tuesday 12/11: Vigilance

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 36:1-12. Verse 2, in what way do I flatter myself? What is God’s remedy?

Isaiah 46:1-13. Verse 10, if God foreknew every detail of my life up to now, and everything yet to come, does that make me feel loved or toyed with? Is my freedom but an illusion?

Revelation 13:11-18. Resemblance to the lamb, wound healed, death overcome. How does the not-God seek to mimic and displace God in my experience? Relevance for today?

Luke 22:39-46. Verse 42, exactly where do I need to put God’s will ahead of my own? Verse 46, how am I vulnerable to spiritual sleepiness? What does Jesus want most from me today?
