Bible Sunday 6/17: Contrition

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 34:1-22. Verse 18 KJV, does God want a contrite spirit from all of us, or only from some? What should I tell him to demonstrate my contrition? What will he do in return?

I Samuel 29:1-11. David becomes a man without a country. When has it seemed God was stacking things against me? Why? How did it turn out?

Acts 10:34-48. Verse 34, what more can I do, or can my church do, to show everyone our God is no respecter of persons? First step?

Matthew 23:13-26. Where in my own thought and actions is this kind of legalism or hypocrisy present? Or is this passage inapplicable to me?
