Bible Friday 6/29: Declaration of Dependence

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 66:1-20. Verse 16, in a few words, what has God done for my soul? Who needs to hear me declare this? When and how can I do that?

II Samuel 10:1-19. Military exploits of David. Biblically, what constitutes just war? Is my church clear on this?

Galatians 1:11-24. Verse 18, why did Paul need three years' seclusion? When has God taken years to do a work in me? How does this help me be patient with others?

Matthew 16:13-19. Why did Peter, like Paul, get a new name from Jesus? What old or new name (identity) has been part of my maturing discipleship?
