Bible Friday 9/14: Feast Day of the Holy Cross

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 66:1-20. Verse 16 KJV, what has God done for my soul, expressed in terms a non-believer could relate to? Who needs to hear about this from me today?

Job 21:1-34. Verse 22, absurd as this sounds, don’t I often do it? As when my prayers attempt to inform or instruct God? Or when my beliefs and actions distort his biblical truths?

Numbers 21:4-9. Troubles lead to blaming God and thence to worse troubles. Prayer leads to obeying God and thence to deliverance. When have I been through this cycle? Present application?

John 3:11-17. Verse 16, how often do I recite this without thinking of its context, the Cross (verse 14)? What steps can I take to move the Cross from the edge of my Christian life to the center?
