Bible Friday 10/11: Hidden Things

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 141:1-10. Verse 5, when have I received a deserved rebuke that helped me do better at loving God and loving others? Present application?

I Chronicles 16:1-43. Verse 15, God’s word to a thousand generations. That’s 20,000 years: exaggeration or fact? How does this color my sense of mankind’s distant past and far future under God? My sense of today?

Ephesians 1:1-14. Same point, the sweep of salvation history. Verse 4, long ago. Verse 10, right now. Verse 14, later on. How does this speak to my worries, doubts, hopes, and fears? Action point?

Luke 10:21-24. How can I put myself in readiness today to see, hear, and know the hidden things Jesus wants to reveal to me?
