Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 17:1-15. Verse 15, if I could look God in the face, what qualities would I see there? Gazing at myself in the mirror today, do I see more of the likeness of Jesus or that of Adam?
Deuteronomy 5:1-33. Decalogue repeated from Exodus 20. Which of these is a vulnerable point for me that I can focus on today?
John 1:19-28. Verse 23, related question, what is crooked in me that I need to let God make straight, so he can have his way with me?
Matthew 3:13-17. Jesus’ baptism. Do I have a high enough view of Christ – the Trinity, the Incarnation, the Atonement? What is at stake for me?
