Bible Wednesday 3/6: Toward the Cross

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 102:1-28. Verse 9, as Jesus walked through those final weeks to the cross, burdened with all the world’s sins, what did I do or leave undone that added to his burden?

Proverbs 12:1-28. Verse 25 KJV, who has a heavy heart today, that could use some encouragement from me?

Joel 1:13—2:2. Verse 14, what reason have I and my church to convene a solemn assembly? Will our doing so have any lasting impact beyond this Lenten season?

Matthew 6:1-6, 16-24. Verse 24, what other masters than Jesus have been dividing my loyalties? What practical steps can I take to put them away in the days from now to Easter — and beyond?
