Bible Thursday 8/8: Prayer or Profit?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 85:1-13. Verse 8, hearing God speak. What voices or messages do I need to tune out in order to tune him in? What do I especially want to hear him saying to me today?

Numbers 32:1-42. Two tribes granted land east of the Jordan. Why are unity, solidarity, and loyalty among all God’s people important in these times? What is my church doing about it?

II Peter 2:12-22. Verse 19, slavish minds, falsely promising liberty. How does this play out in America and other “advanced” countries? What is my church doing about it? My role?

Mark 11:1-19. Verses 15-17, as between an activity-centered approach and a prayer-centered approach, how does my Christian walk measure up? That of my family? That of the ministries I support?
