Bible Friday 8/23: You're Who?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 141:1-10. Verse 2, whereas this likens prayer to a ritual or ceremony, some say it is just a conversation or friendly chat with God. How does my manner of prayer match up with this? Can it be some of both?

Joshua 11:1-23. Verses 10, 15, 20, and 23, strictly obeying Moses. What authority do God’s people recognize today to temper our innovation and improvisation? My church’s role? My role?

Acts 21:15-25. Verse 21, centuries later, too much deference to Moses. Now in our times, which is more of a problem for Christians, rigid legalism or a relaxed “anything goes” approach? Is the faith dying?

Mark 14:53-65. Verse 62, Jesus foretells his return. What difference does this make, or should it make, in the way I live my life today and every day?
