Bible Wednesday 8/21: Wait, Watch, Hope

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 130:1-8. Verses 5 and 6 KJV, what’s my greatest challenge right now in terms of waiting for the Lord? Am I watchful enough? What grounds my hope?

Joshua 9:1-27. Joshua gets swindled. When have I been victimized by dishonesty? What did I learn? What’s the worst lie I ever told?? Application for today?

Acts 20:28-38. Verse 29, wolves among the flock. Situation at my church? Steps I can take? Verse 35, a saying of Jesus not found in the four Gospels. What experience have I with this? My next opportunity?

Mark 14:32-42. Verses 37 and 38, today if I’m to be a watcher for Jesus, exactly what does that require? Oppositely, what are the symptoms of spiritual sleepiness? Prayer point?
