Bible Tuesday 12/29: St. Joseph the Protector

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 145:1-21. Verse 4, what have I learned about God from my parents and their parents, or from my children and their children? How can I be a stronger link in that generational chain in the coming year?

Isaiah 64:1-12. Verse 8, humans as clay for God, the hand of the potter. Submitting myself to him in that relationship, what will it cost me? What’s the reward? First step?

Revelation 21:9-27. New Jerusalem, inexpressibly beautiful. Verse 27, what are some lies and defilements from our earthly city that God reverses in his heavenly city?

Matthew 2:19-23. St. Joseph as the vigilant, obedient, unfaltering protector of young Jesus. What opportunity can I find today to emulate this “just man”?
