Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 19:1-14. Verse 14, what thoughts or words of mine were quite displeasing to God yesterday? How can I do better today?
Jeremiah 35:1-19. Exemplary obedience of Jonadab’s sons. What small but firm vow can I make to God during this time of Lent, to signal my devotion to Christ crucified?
Romans 15:1-6. Verses 4 and 5, what special need of patience do I have at present? What word of Scripture shall I dwell on today, to gain that patience from God?
Matthew 17:22-18:5. Verses 3 and 4, who is the best example I know of, that spiritual greatness starts with being childlike? What opportunity can I find today to put this into practice?
