Bible Sunday 3/15: Sacrificial Devotion

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 36:1-12. Verses 5-9, how do the attributes of God’s goodness and grace in this passage translate into specific relief of the world health crisis? How confident am I that we’ll see him bringing such relief even today?

Jeremiah 41:1-18. Ishmael’s treasonous murder rampage. What must Jeremiah, spared in this massacre, have been saying to God and hearing from God as the horror unfolded? Lesson for me as a Christian soldier?

I Corinthians 1:1-9. Verses 5-7, God’s gifts enriching the believers. What specific capabilities from Him shall I pray for today, enabling me to think and act mightily for the kingdom?

Matthew 16:21-28. Verses 24 and 25, what is my own specific cross that Jesus wants me to take up today in his name? If not yet death itself, what sacrifice might he be asking of me that would feel like losing my life?
