Bible Tuesday 3/17: He is Able

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 40:1-17. Verses 8-10, with so much anxiety right now, so much awareness of our mortality and vulnerability, what opportunity can I find today to witness of the saving grace of Jesus Christ?

Jeremiah 43:1-13. How God used a heathen king to teach his people hard lessons. If he is now permitting this pandemic, what stern yet benevolent purpose may he have? My church’s role?

I Corinthians 1:18-31. Verses 23 and 24, how does Christ crucified become a channel of God’s power and wisdom for people engulfed in the current emergency? My role, short range and long range?

Matthew 19:23-30. Verse 26, what seemingly impossible move of God shall I pray for today? Why isn’t that mere wishful thinking, the opiate of the masses?
