Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 110:1-7. Verse 1, what difference does it make today for me and for all his faithful ones in this battered land, that King Jesus has conquered death and now sits at the right hand of the Father?
Ezekiel 2:1-10. Verse 6 KJV, figuratively, what are the thorns and scorpions besetting me and my family right now, from which God promises to protect us if we shelter in him?
Matthew 28:1-10. Verse 8 KJV, to whom can I tell the news this week, “Christ is risen”? What’s it mean to do so with fear, with joy, and with urgency?
Matthew 28:11-15. Who is there in these times that has a self-interested motive—power, prestige, enrichment—in denying the resurrection of Jesus? What resources does he give us to overcome that?
