Bible Friday 6/19: Hard Lessons

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 119:49-88. Verses 67 and 71 KJV, how have our country’s recent afflictions, mass illness and mass unrest, driven many people closer to God? My church’s role? My role?

I Samuel 18:1-30. Saul’s hostility to David. In daily life, how do the worldly minded try to make trouble for the godly minded? How can I obtain from God, as David did, alertness to these traps and avoidance of them?

Acts 7:11-19. Verse 19, related, how does the worldly mind today attack children, born and unborn? What is my church doing about it? My role?

Mark 2:18-22. What part does fasting, in all its meanings, play in my Christian life? How does Jesus’ warning about new wine in old bottles apply to me, my family, and my church?
