Bible Friday 7/17: Marauding Dragons

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 44:1-26. Verses 19 and 26 KJV, place of dragons. What monsters seem to be terrorizing American life right now? How are they forcing us to look beyond human help for God’s help?

II Samuel 15:I-37. Absalom’s power grab. Where was God in all this, David being his anointed ruler over Israel? Where is God in the turmoil now besetting our land?

Acts 14:21-28. Verse 27, related question, how can my church do more in these troubled times to rehearse and dwell upon God’s mighty acts in past crises? My role?

Mark 9:2-13. Verses 2 and 9, what equipped these three disciples to go up and see Jesus transfigured, unlike the other nine? By what attitudes and actions today can I be more like Peter, James, and John?
