Bible Friday 7/31: Life Lessons

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 78:1-40. Verse 2 KJV, what illustration from everyday life can I take as a parable for my need of God and my tendency to stray from him?

I Kings 5:1-18. Solomon allies with Hiram and mobilizes to start building the temple. What cherished goal of mine must I take care to pursue not as an end in itself but always for the glory of God?

Acts 18:24-28. The discipling of Apollos. Related to the previous question, what seemingly natural gifts or abilities of mine must I humbly place under the directing and perfecting hand of Jesus?

Mark 12:1-12. Verse 8, related again, in what subtle ways might Satan lure me into being more of a self-seeker than a Christ-follower?
