Bible Sunday 7/26: Status Quo Swept Away

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 69:1-36. Verses 7-9 KJV, in what way do I feel alienated from some of my fellow Americans, even some of my fellow Christians? In what degree can God heal that breach? In what degree does he command it?

II Samuel 24:1-25. David’s census incurs awful punishment. How am I prone to excessive self-reliance and insufficient God-reliance, so as to displease him and obstruct his blessings? Prayer point?

Acts 17:1-15. Verse 6, world turned upside down. Does the faith of Jesus Christ as preached and lived at my church challenge the worldly mind mightily—or only mildly?

Mark 10:46-52. Verse 51, related but personal, as Jesus is ever attentive to me and asking what I want, do I respond with petty prayers—or with audacious ones proportionate to his love and power?
