Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 89:1-52. Verse 6, what does the world present to me as comparable to God or even superior to him? Why is it a cheat? Action point?
Job 42:1-17. Verse 10, what friend especially needs my prayers today? Why is God pleased when I intercede for someone?
Ezra 2:1-70. Census of the Jews repatriated from Babylon to Judah 2500 years ago. A hundred years from now, by whom may I be remembered, and for what? Does it matter?
Luke 10:25-37. When have I acted the part of the Good Samaritan to someone? The part of the priest and Levite? What situation do I confront right now involving that same choice? Where is God in this story?
