Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 59:1-17. Verses 6 and 14, noise of the ungodly like so many barking dogs. How can I tune out the world’s clamor today and tune in the Holy Spirit?
II Chronicles 31:1-21. Offerings to the Lord, enough and more. What variety of resources, in addition to money, does my church need right now so it can excel in ministry? Prayer point?
Malachi 1:1-8. Verse 6, priests who dishonor God. Where do we currently see Christian clergy or churches unworthy of the name? Does my church measure up?
Luke 23:1-12. Pilate and Herod, formerly rivals, find in Jesus a common enemy. What present-day power centers are terrified of Christ the King? Is my own self-importance also threatened by him?
