Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 113:1-9. Verse 6, what evidence have I that God humbles himself for my sake? How can I be blessed by that today and thank him for it?
Genesis 46:1-34. Verse 4, God assures Jacob of the Israelites’ return from Egypt centuries hence. How can this comfort me about some aspect of the unknown future over which I’m anxious?
Jonah 1:1-17. When have I tried to hide from God, stall him, or run away from his demand upon me? How did it turn out?
Matthew 13:10-17. Approaching this day with spiritual sight and hearing, not merely material, what activities of the kingdom of heaven do I become aware of? What duties and privileges does this confer on me?
